Pilgrimage

We met at St. Luke's Church at 5:00 and were warmly greeted by their rector, "Patty". After a typically wonderful Lenten Walk Pot Luck feast, Patty spoke to us about Pilgrimage. She started by asking who had ever been on a pilgrimage, spoke for a while about the difference between a trip and a pilgrimage, then explained that Egeria, an early pilgrim to the Holy Land, had kept a very detailed diary of her travels, which account is available to us, in part, even now. During the times that travel to Palestine was tightly restricted, people still wanted to make a pilgrimage, and so a way was developed where we could "visit" the various sites along the Via Dolorosa (the Way of Sorrows).

Today we call that spiritual journey "Stations of the Cross." We, at Redeemer, are blessed to have the opportunity to experience that journey every Wednesday evening during Lent, starting on March 8th. During the discussion, Padre gave an invitation to those in attendance to join us in that blessing, and then we adjourned to the Nave for Evening Prayer.
